Dedicated to moos

Something struck me today. It got me thinking after I watched this advertisement my sis was watching on Youtube. Sorry, there’s no link for the video. Then I wondered this out loud and posed the question on my MSN and personally to Rafidah. “How come asian cows are brown and not spotted?” This is so me being random right?

But Rafidah went on to research(!). This is what she told me.

okay. this is interesting

Yes people. We were discussing cows! So then I did my own research on Wiki. Apparently, cows are just a “pet name” for cattles! Ok, bimbo moment. I read on.

The spotted cows we see on advertisements are actually called Friesian/Holstein Cow.

And get this, it’s usually reared in UK and US. Wow! English cows. So then it got me thinking, has the UK/US people seen our cows? The pure brown ones. I wonder.

And there’s also an extinct cow! Yes! We do have an extinct cow! The species of this cow is called Aurochs. The mother of all cows before any cows. Does that makes sense?

And you only thought that dogs and cats (or any other pets for that matter) have hybrids. Cows have hybrids too!

Brace yourself!

We have the yak, (found mostly in Tibet, Central Asia and Mongolia)

Banteng, (found mostly in Myanmar, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, Borneo, Java, and Bali.) So this is our cow!

Gaur, (found mostly in South Asia and SEA)

Bison, (found mostly in North America and Europe)
